Trail Crew
Like to get your hands dirty? Want to help decide where and how new trails get built? Volunteer for the GROC Trail Crew. Join the GROC Event Meetup to get notifications of upcoming trail work days, meetings, and special projects. During peak season, we may have trail work days every week, so be sure to sign up!
Never dug before? Don’t worry! There’s a first time for everything, and our trail work coordinators will provide instruction on the right way to dig a trail (yes – there IS a right way!). Bring work gloves, water, bug spray, and durable footwear!
After you do trail work, don’t forget to log your volunteer hours so we can better report our efforts to maintain the places we love.
Mountain Bike Patrol
GROC Mountain Bike Patrol is our local volunteer bike patrol. GROC Patrol has 20+ members who are out on our local trails and volunteering regularly. We are starting to expand our available legal trails and we encourage those who want to help create a great experience for all riders to join GROC Patrol.
GROC Patrol is a volunteer group of GROC as well as a member organization of National Ski Patrol (NSP), and consists of dedicated volunteers partnering with GROC and land managers, landowners, and other first responders to assist, educate and inform all trail users in order to enhance their recreational experience. The bike patrol program through NSP supports volunteer bike patrol groups and trained patrollers throughout the United States. Learn more by exploring the links to the right and reading the patrol blog.
Our volunteer patrollers:
- Most importantly, get out and help others in different parks throughout the riding season
- Get to know others on patrol
- Learn outdoor first aid skills through training with NSP instructors
- Maintain AED/CPR certifications
- Have intermediate to advanced mountain bike skills (this means patrollers must be able to access all trails, but not necessarily ride all features
- Try to patrol at least once each week and at least one GROC-sponsored event each season
Since 1996, GROC Patrol has provided thousands of hours of volunteer service to support the trails and riders in our local community. Patrollers are intermediate to advanced riders who maintain their AED/CPR and outdoor first aid certifications, and are members of GROC and NSP.
GROC Patrol is right for you if you enjoy:
- Riding your bike
- Helping other people.
- Being involved in the management of your local trails.
- Learning and sharpening skills such as outdoor first aid, trailside bike repair, off-road riding and trail-use education.
